The Ivors Academy has today unveiled the much-anticipated nominations for The Ivors with Amazon Music 2024. This prestigious event, set to take place at Grosvenor House, London on 23rd May 2024, celebrates the pinnacle of songwriting and composing talent. Leading this year’s nominations are Sampha and Yussef Dayes, each securing two nominations, alongside composer Daniel Pemberton, who is also up for two awards in the screen categories.

With 77 songwriters and composers nominated across eight categories, the awards highlight the diversity and creativity within the music industry. Notable nominations include RAYE, CMAT, Yussef Dayes and Lankum for Best Album, with Jungle, The Japanese House, Jazzy, and Kenya Grace receiving their first-ever Ivor Novello Award nominations. Veteran group Blur is back in the limelight 29 years after their first nomination, alongside contemporary artists such as Harry Styles, Kae Tempest and Tom Odell.

Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy, expressed his admiration for this year’s nominees: “The 2024 Ivor Novello Award nominees represent a remarkable breadth of talent, showcasing the wide-ranging creativity and innovation that defines British and Irish songwriting and screen composing. From established voices to rising stars, this year’s list reflects an ever-evolving musical landscape and celebrates the writing craft that soundtracks our lives.”

Roberto Neri, Chief Executive of The Ivors Academy, also shared his excitement: “On behalf The Ivors Academy and our community of songwriters and composers, I’m delighted to congratulate all our nominees and thank our members who judge the awards. It is this recognition by your peers that makes an Ivor Novello Award so meaningful, and I look forward to celebrating the highest achievements at an inspiring awards ceremony in May.”

This year’s Best Album category showcases a wide range of musical styles, from RAYE’s chart-topping pop debut to Yussef Dayes’s jazz masterpiece. The Best Song Musically and Lyrically and Best Contemporary Song categories also feature a compelling mix of talent, with emerging artists and established acts alike vying for the prestigious awards.

The Ivors also honour achievements in film, TV and video game music, with nominees this year including scores for renowned projects such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the final season of Netflix’s The Crown.

As the music industry eagerly anticipates the awards ceremony, fans can enjoy a playlist of nominated songs on Amazon Music. The Ivors with Amazon Music 2024 promises to be a celebration of exceptional talent and the enduring power of songwriting and composing.
