Casa Bonavita boutique hotel to open in restored Attard residence in Malta

A new boutique hotel is opening in Attard, Malta next May. Casa Bonavita, a 17-room property, is the first hospitality project by Suzanne and Christopher Sharp. It occupies a restored historic family house and aims to reflect Maltese heritage while offering visitors access to the beautiful island.

Casa Bonavita marks a departure from the couple’s previous ventures in luxury interior design. Having gained praise for their work with The Rug Company, the Sharps have brought their design sensibilities to the new hotel. The interiors are expected to reflect their established aesthetic, though specific details have not yet been released. The property, originally a centuries-old private residence, has undergone a five-year restoration process, led by the pair. Located in the heart of Attard and surrounded by Mediterranean gardens, it combines traditional architecture with contemporary design elements, with Suzanne drawing on her Maltese background to help shape the project.

In the centre of the country, the town of Attard is known for its historic villas and proximity to the San Anton Gardens. Though it has not traditionally been a focal point for tourism, but the opening of Casa Bonavita could signal a shift. The location may appeal to travellers seeking a quieter alternative to Malta’s coastal resorts, and adds to a growing trend of adaptive reuse of historic buildings in the region’s hospitality industry, blending conservation with modern tourism. The developers describe the hotel as “a celebration of Maltese heritage and a soulful new base from which to explore the island”.

Casa Bonavita is scheduled to welcome its first guests in spring 2026, with further details regarding pricing, availability and additional services to be released closer to the opening date.
