Korean street food chain Bunsik to launch first South West restaurant in Bristol’s Cabot Circus

Korean street food chain Bunsik has opened this weekend its first South West England location at Cabot Circus in Bristol. The new site is the brand’s eighth in the UK and marks a significant step in its national expansion, following previous openings in London and Manchester. The launch is being undertaken in partnership with franchisee Will Bray, and will include a week of promotional offers to attract customers.
Bunsik, which originated in London in 2021, has gained popularity for its Korean corn dogs— K-dogs—and other street food dishes influenced by Korean cuisine. The brand has developed a strong presence on social media, with its visually distinctive food drawing viral attention on platforms like TikTok.
The menu at the new site features Bunsik’s signature items, including Korean corn dogs filled with mozzarella or chicken, Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), kimbap, Korean Fried Chicken, and a selection of burgers, wraps, and rice bowls such as Bibimbap and Cup Bap. The chain uses halal meat and offers vegetarian options.
The Bristol branch is Bunsik’s first franchise location. Will Bray, who previously operated four Subway franchises in the South West and served on the brand’s national marketing board, is leading the local operation.
“I explored many different franchise brands, but Bunsik really stood out,” Bray said. “The food and flavours are exceptional, and Jae’s experience as a restaurateur, backed by a talented team, gave me real confidence in the brand. That passion and expertise convinced me this was the right next step, and I’m excited to be part of growing the UK’s No.1 Korean street food brand.”
Founder Jae Cho, who has over a decade of experience in the UK restaurant industry through his Maguro Group, added: “This is a significant milestone for Bunsik as we open in Bristol, a city with such a vibrant food scene. Cabot Circus is the suitable location for our debut here, and we look forward to bringing our bold and playful take on Korean street food to a new audience.”
The Bristol restaurant is located at Unit SU52 in Cabot Circus and operates daily from 11am to 10pm. As part of the launch, discounts will be available throughout the week, including 50% off Korean Fried Chicken (on the 22nd and 23rd of September), Tteokbokki (on the 24th and the 25th of September), and Cup Bap rice bowls (on the 26th September).
