Lanes of London launches Guess How Much I Love You afternoon tea for families this spring

Lanes of London on Park Lane has announced a new family afternoon tea inspired by the children’s book Guess How Much I Love You. The themed tea will be available from 13th March to 19th April, running Fridays to Sundays between 12pm and 4pm, offering families a seasonal experience perfect for Mother’s Day or Easter.

The afternoon tea draws its inspiration from the 1994 picture book by Sam McBratney, illustrated by Anita Jeram, which has sold over 61.5 million copies worldwide and been translated into 57 languages. The story, which centres on the relationship between Little and Big Nutbrown Hare, is known for its iconic phrase, “I love you right up to the moon – and back”.

The menu features a series of sweet and savoury items that reference elements from the book. Among the sweet offerings are a hare-shaped biscuit, a miniature wildflower meadow made with rhubarb confit, wild honey panna cotta and cocoa soil, a chocolate orange tree stump and a lychee rose dessert decorated with a moon motif. Savoury items include duck terrine on brioche toast, a prawn cocktail pastry puff, chicken and asparagus sandwiches and an heirloom beetroot and goat’s cheese basket. Traditional scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam are also included.

Guests can choose from a selection of Jing teas, while prosecco is available for adults. Children are offered hot chocolate or fruit juice, along with their own assortment of sandwiches. Each child will receive a Nutbrown Hare soft toy and a copy of Guess How Much I Love You in a gift bag.

The afternoon tea is priced at £65 per adult, which includes a glass of prosecco, and £45 per child, which covers a drink and the keepsake gift bag. Children’s pricing applies to those aged up to 12 years old. Reservations are required with at least 48 hours’ notice.
