Aethos Shoreditch hotel reshapes East London hospitality with private club, wellness area and Japanese restaurant

Aethos, a hotel and club brand with Mediterranean roots, has announced several new developments at its East London location in Shoreditch. Since the launch last year, the team have introduced a private members’ club, The Willow Room, with further plans for a wellness recovery area and a Japanese-inspired restaurant, Mitsu, this spring. The additions are part of the brand’s ongoing expansion in Europe and its efforts to create spaces that blend hospitality, culture and wellbeing. Their strategy seeks to differentiate them from the rest of the competitive hospitality market by focusing on experience-led offerings.

The 164-room property aims to merge its Mediterranean heritage with the contemporary style of its surroundings. The Willow Room, which opened earlier this year, is described as a private members’ club designed to foster “connection, creativity and everyday restoration” with “meaningful cultural exchange, immersive wellbeing rituals and bespoke journeys out of the space into each destination – extending beyond the familiar cityscape”. It is intended to serve as a gateway to local culture and offers communal dining, cultural events and opportunities for members to engage in both in-hotel experiences and curated explorations of the surrounding neighbourhood.

Further developments at Aethos London Shoreditch include the planned Recovery Area, which will feature wellness classes, a sauna, cold plunges and hot baths. This facility is open to both hotel guests and club members, providing a space for relaxation and health-focused activities. In addition, Mitsu, a Japanese-inspired restaurant, is scheduled to open this spring with a menu that will emphasise “presence, precision and distinct simplicity”.

Aethos London Shoreditch’s latest offerings contribute to the evolving hospitality landscape in the East End – an area known for its creative scene and diverse cultural experiences. As the new amenities are rolled out, it remains to be seen how the additions will resonate with both members and guests in a competitive market.
