Florentine gelato maker Badiani brings six-course sweet and savoury tasting menu to Chelsea

Badiani, a long-established gelato maker from Florence, Italy, has announced the return of its six-course savoury and sweet gelato tasting menu at its Chelsea location in London. The ticketed events will take place on 18th February and 18th March 2026, offering guests the chance to sample a series of innovative gelato flavours, some of which have not previously been served in the UK. Each course will be paired with Italian fine wines as part of an immersive tasting experience.

The menu, priced at £65.71 per person, will include gelato flavours such as Tomato, Olive Patè, Cacio e Pepe, Salami, and Badiani’s signature Buontalenti, as well as a Sgroppino cocktail. The event aims to showcase both the sweet and savoury potential of gelato, blending traditional Italian recipes with contemporary culinary experimentation.

Badiani was founded in Florence in 1932 and has become known for its focus on traditional Italian gelato-making techniques. Its flagship flavour, Buontalenti, is named after Bernardo Buontalenti, the Florentine credited with inventing gelato in the 16th century. In 2015, they opened one store within Mercato Metropolitano and a dedicated laboratory in Battersea. The company now operates 12 shops in London, as well as locations in Brighton, Spain, Florence, Tuscany, and Paris.

The tasting menu includes flavours hardly ever served around the UK, such as Olive Patè and Cacio e Pepe, as well as the more familiar Buontalenti, made with milk, cream, sugar, and eggs. The menu concludes with a Sgroppino cocktail, a traditional Italian drink made with lemon sorbet and sparkling wine.

Badiani’s Chelsea events follow the success of a similar tasting held last year. The brand emphasises its commitment to authentic Italian taste, meticulous craftsmanship, and the highest quality ingredients, as well as its efforts to reduce environmental impact by supporting local suppliers and operating a zero water waste production system.

The gelato tasting makes for a special experience to be enjoyed as a couple, with a group of friends, and food enthusiasts interested in exploring the boundaries of Italian gastronomy.
