Hackney’s Restaurant Festival brings month-long dining deals
A new month-long food event, The Restaurant Festival, Hackney, is taking place throughout February, aiming to highlight the borough’s culinary offerings while providing diners with up to 40% off at participating establishments. The festival, curated by Dalston’s Acme Fire Cult and supported by dining app EatClub, brings together a selection of Hackney-based restaurants, inviting both locals and visitors to explore a diverse range of cuisines at reduced prices during what is typically a quieter period for the hospitality industry.
The initiative features a roster of well-known and emerging restaurants in Hackney, including Corrochio’s, Big Night, Mangal 2, Papi, Tom’s Pasta, Alber’s, My Neighbours the Dumplings, Sune, Oren, Marksman Public House, Mambow, Lucia’s, and Berber & Q. Additional venues are expected to be announced as the festival progresses. Diners can access the discounts by downloading the EatClub app, which facilitates payment and provides information on participating restaurants.
A key highlight of the festival is Acme Fire Cult’s special winter menu. The Dalston restaurant, characterised by its fire-led approach to cooking, has temporarily transformed into a curry house for the duration of the festival. The menu, inspired by chef Andrew Clarke’s travels in India, features dishes such as Lamb Chop Railway Curry, Pigs Head Vindaloo, Vadouvan Monkfish Skewers, and Venison Sheekh Kebab.
Other participating venues are also offering distinctive experiences. Corrochio’s in Dalston, for example, with its Vampiros – crispy tortillas with various fillings – and a recently opened basement agave bar. Big Night, during chef Joe Lippman’s limited residency, is serving a menu focused on open-fire cooking, with items such as Porthilly Oysters with Blue Rhubarb and Wild Bass Crudo with Tomato Ponzu and Yuzu Oil.
The festival is part of EatClub’s broader objective to address the hospitality sector’s challenge of filling tables during off-peak hours, while simultaneously offering diners access to a variety of food experiences at reduced prices. EatClub’s app, launched in London in 2023, now partners with nearly 1,000 venues across the city.
Acme Fire Cult, the festival’s curator, was founded by chef Andrew Clarke during the pandemic and has since established a permanent base in Dalston.
