Signature Brew teams up with Groove Armada and Wildfarmed for regenerative lager launch

London-based independent brewery Signature Brew has launched a Czech-style pale lager produced in collaboration with electronic music duo Groove Armada and regenerative farming company Wildfarmed. The beer, called Do It Right, is available in Waitrose stores across the UK now and begins rolling out to pubs, bars and music venues in kegs and cans this week. The 5% ABV lager, priced at a recommended £3 per 440ml can, has been brewed using regeneratively farmed malted barley in an effort to link brewing with soil restoration and support for British farmers.

The brewery, based on Blackhorse Road in Walthamstow, operates a combined brewing site and music venue, and has built its business over roughly 15 years around collaborations with musicians. The Do It Right project extends that model by adding an agricultural partner to the mix, with Wildfarmed supplying grain grown by its network of farmers.

Groove Armada, formed by Cato and Tom Findlay in the mid-1990s, remain active as performers. Cato co-founded Wildfarmed having spent a decade experimenting with arable farming methods before establishing the business. Its growers follow practices intended to improve soil health, increase biodiversity, reduce water pollution and lower carbon emissions. Their output has expanded from flour and bread into a range of consumer products made with grain from its farming network.

Cato explained: “It was DJing that allowed me to hang on during ten years of experimentation in the fields, searching for ways to combine growing grains with restoring soils and nature. Back then, the farm and DJ booth felt like separate worlds. But as we built the Wildfarmed movement, I realised the two have a lot in common. Whether behind the Groove Armada turntables or talking at a Wildfarmed open day, the objective is the same – to unite people in a shared mission. It’s great to now have a beer that brings these two worlds together. There can’t be many better ways than drinking a cold lager to directly support farmers who are restoring soils and nature.”

Exclusive supermarket sector stockists Waitrose say the new beer aligns strongly with their ethical and sustainable standpoint. It’s described by Signature Brew as pale gold with a white head, with aromas of fresh bread, floral hops and subtle spice, and flavours of biscuit and light honey balanced by herbal hop character and a clean bitterness.

Tom Bott, co-founder of the producer, said: “For the past 15 years we’ve collaborated with more artists than any other brewery in the world because we believe great music deserves great beer. Those partnerships have allowed us to sit at the heart of modern culture in the UK, and we take the responsibility and influence that comes with that seriously. Brewing with Wildfarmed’s regenerative malted barley gave us the opportunity to create something that’s bigger than a beer collaboration. Wildfarmed exists to improve the world through better farming practices, while Signature Brew exists to make the live music experience better through exceptional beer. Bringing those two movements together to create a beer with genuine purpose makes this one of our most meaningful collaborations to date.”
