Galvin Bistrot & Bar brings Beaujolais Nouveau Day celebration to Spitalfields with French wine, food and live music

Galvin Bistrot & Bar in Spitalfields will celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau Day on 20th November with a day-long event featuring French cuisine, wine and live music. The celebration, which honours the annual release of the first bottles of Beaujolais wine, will run from breakfast through to dinner and is open to both regular patrons and new visitors.

Beaujolais Nouveau Day is traditionally observed in the eponymous region of France, located approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Lyon. Held on the third Thursday of November each year, the event marks the official debut of that year’s product – a light red made from Gamay grapes harvested just weeks earlier. The day has grown in popularity beyond France and is now marked by wine enthusiasts and restaurants around the world.

Galvin Bistrot & Bar, owned by Michelin-starred chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin, will join the international festivities by serving seasonal French dishes alongside pours of the 2025 vintage. The venue will also feature traditional music to create what organisers describe as a “convivial atmosphere.” The brothers take pride in seasonal produce and sustainable sourcing for their establishments, working closely with local farmers, fishmongers and other suppliers to create menus that reflect the best of each season. “At the heart of the Galvin ethos lies a respect for provenance,” they say, with the intention of supporting the local economy but also reducing environmental impact.

While Galvin Bistrot & Bar is the more relaxed sibling in the restaurant family, the group maintains that all venues offer what it calls “warm, welcoming service” regardless of the setting. The Beaujolais Day celebration is expected to reflect this ethos, offering guests an opportunity to experience a French cultural tradition in an East London setting.

Reservations are recommended for those wishing to attend.
