Mezcalito Chelsea brings Mexican cuisine, agave spirits and vibrant culture to the heart of London

With spooky season coming up, Mezcalito Chelsea might be the perfect place for a Día de los Muertos celebration this November. The Mexican restaurant and cocktail bar, located just off the King’s Road, has been offering a distinctive blend of traditional Mexican cuisine and agave-based spirits since its opening in 2018. Founded by Laura Geas and now co-managed with her son, Titi, the venue aims to bring a curated culinary and cultural experience to the area.

The menu features a mix of classic dishes and contemporary interpretations, led by Mexican head chef Pablo Salcedo. Options include Baja-style Fish Tacos, Beef Birria Quesadillas, ceviche and churros with chocolate sauce. The food is paired with a drinks list that includes over 450 tequilas and 100 mezcals, making it one of the largest agave spirit collections in Europe. Cocktail selections are structured around a custom-designed map of Mexico, with drinks named after regions such as Jalisco, Nayarit and Michoacán. Signature cocktails include a Margarita Picante and a Mezcal Paloma.

Owner Geas transitioned into hospitality following a career in banking and interior design. Her previous venture, Souleiado & Les Olivades, was a showroom on the King’s Road known for Provençal fabrics and Mediterranean homeware. Drawing on her international travels and her grandmother’s Mediterranean approach to food and hospitality, Geas developed Mezcalito as a space that reflects her diverse cultural influences. The interior is divided into three areas: intimate booths, a quiet corner and a semi-outdoor terrace, with design throughout that incorporates brass accents and warm tones, aiming to evoke a subtle Mexican aesthetic.

In addition to its food and drink offerings, Mezcalito hosts weekly events, including Taco Tuesdays, Mariachi Wednesdays and a Tulum-themed bottomless brunch on Saturdays. Sunday evenings feature industry nights with tequila and cigars, and the venue is also available for private hire.

In December 2023 a second location, Mezcalito Brompton, was launched on Old Brompton Road in response to customer demand. The new venue includes a nightclub with live DJs and a late-night bar open until 3am.

Mezcalito Chelsea continues to position itself as a destination for those seeking a Mexican-inspired experience in London, blending hospitality, cuisine and culture in a vibrant setting.
