Moor Hall launches Atelier Hearth, an intimate whisky dining experience with The Macallan

Moor Hall, the three Michelin-starred restaurant located in Aughton, Lancashire, will launch a new private dining concept this December. Named Atelier Hearth, the 12-seat affair is a collaboration between Moor Hall and single malt whisky brand The Macallan. The venue will offer bespoke menus crafted by chef patron Mark Birchall, alongside access to rare whiskies and optional guided tastings led by expert ambassadors.

Moor Hall’s existing food offering has been recognised with numerous accolades, including three Michelin stars and a Michelin Green Star, and was named Best Restaurant in England in 2022 and 2023 by the National Restaurant Awards. Its new dining space, Atelier Hearth, has been designed for an intimate experience within the Grade II listed manor house. The name reflects its dual inspirations: “atelier” referencing a craftsman’s studio, and “hearth” symbolising the heart of the home. The room retains original features such as beams and windows, and is centred around a hand-crafted circular oak table designed by Birchall and made by local carpenter Steve Hudson. The menu will focus on seasonal, estate-led cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the property’s five-acre grounds, where produce is grown, foraged and preserved.

The collaboration with The Macallan will introduce guests to rare expressions from the distillery’s Red Collection, which includes single malts aged between 40 and 78 years. Tastings of these whiskies will be available upon request. The partnership will be inaugurated with a New Year’s Eve event, which will include a bespoke selection of tasting dishes, a pour of The Macallan Sherry Oak 25 Year Old, champagne at midnight, and a fireworks display across the estate. Live music will follow at Moor Hall’s sister restaurant, The Barn. Tickets are priced at £450 per person, with an enhanced Macallan package available at £675 per person, which includes Lalique Crystal Macallan glassware and the option to purchase a bottle of The Macallan 25 Year Old. Wine pairings start at £145 per person.

The partnership will continue throughout 2025 with a series of events exploring the intersection of whisky and fine dining.
