Petersham Nurseries unveils Friends of Petersham menu and workshops to brighten January in Richmond

Petersham Nurseries in Richmond has announced a series of winter offerings for the early months of 2026, including a specially priced set menu and a programme of workshops. Running from 6th January to 11th February at the restaurant with boutique garden centre on Church Lane off Petersham Road, the lineup is designed to reflect the seasonal changes and promote a positive change of pace for the New Year.

The centrepiece is the return of the Friends of Petersham set menu, which will be available for lunch from Tuesday to Friday and for dinner on Thursdays and Fridays. The selection is priced at £60 for three courses and £70 for four courses, and the team explains it “reflects the winter rhythm of our gardens, celebrating the comforting flavours the season has to offer”. To celebrate the end of Dry January, there’s a low-alcohol wine tasting with canapes, entitled Back in the Swing of Things, for an experience that aims to show that “low alcohol wine can be the pick of the bunch, not just ending dry January, but also providing enjoyable everyday options that shine all year round”.

In addition to special food and drinks, Petersham Nurseries will also be hosting a series of workshops, “each rooted in craft and shared experience”. Among them is a Copperplate Calligraphy session for beginners and improvers with in-house calligrapher Kate Ridyard. It begins with refreshments on arrival, followed by a pointed pen demonstration and step-by-step tuition with all materials provided. There’s also a floristry workshop (also with preliminary treats) teaching attendees how to create a floral winterscape to honour the season, using branches with catkins, emerging bulbs and delicate seedheads.

The set menu and workshops form part of what the team is calling “a January of slow living” – an opportunity for guests to unwind and engage with the season in a mindful way. The idea is in keeping with their focus on seasonal produce and horticultural experiences, and the Richmond venue certainly provides a beautiful backdrop.

Bookings are now open, and booking in advance in encouraged due to limited availability.
