Noodle and Beer offers 50% off noodle dishes for Blue Monday in Spitalfields

On Monday 19th January, Sichuan restaurant Noodle and Beer in Spitalfields will be offering a 50% discount on all noodle dishes (with one exception) as part of a day-long promotion on Blue Monday. The generous team hope to provide Londoners with an affordable dining option during what is often described as the bleakest day of the year.

Noodle and Beer operates two sites in London, with the City of London branch hosting this particular offer. Founded by Xiaoxiao Wang, the group specialises in handmade noodles, house-made chilli oils and small plates, and seeks to bring the flavours of Chongqing and Sichuan to a London audience. The menu features noodles, both dry or swimming in spicy, robust broths. A notable option is Niu-Rou Mian, a soup with a three-chilli heat rating that features wheat noodles, braised beef, Chinese herbs, cabbage and coriander. Another signature dish is Xian Jiao Niu-Rou, a dry noodle bowl with red pepper, beef, peanuts, spring onions and pickled greens with a five-chilli rating.

The Blue Monday promotion is available for dine-in customers only and applies to the restaurant’s full range of noodles, excluding the Super King Braised Beef with Blanket Noodles. Each customer can redeem one discounted dish throughout next Monday, and all are advised to book in advance.

Blue Monday, which falls on the third Monday of January, has become widely acknowledged in the UK as a day when post-holiday blues, cold weather and failed New Year’s resolutions combine to diabolical effect, bringing down everyone’s mood. According to the restaurant, the aim is to “offer a comforting and flavour-packed pick-me-up on the so-called most depressing day of the year”.
