London’s newest food hall, Market Place Leicester Square, has recently opened, bringing together a diverse line-up of independent food traders under one roof. Located in the heart of the West End, the five-storey venue features a mix of established names and emerging talent from London’s street food scene, offering a wide range of global cuisines. The launch marks the latest expansion of the Market Place Food Halls group, which already operates sites in St Paul’s, Vauxhall, Harrow and Peckham.

Among the confirmed vendors is Bread Ahead, and their popular Crème Brûlée Doughnut and Sourdough Pizzas. The bakery has previously received recognition from the World Bread Awards and the FAB Awards. Next to it, visitors will find Butchies, a fried chicken specialist, whose Buttermilk Chicken Sandwiches have gained a strong following in the capital.

For plant-based diners, Club Mexicana will offer vegan Mexican street food, including tacos, nachos and burritos. The brand was named Best Vegan Street Food Stall by Time Out in 2018.

Other traders include Inamo Sukoshi, for Asian fusion street food and sushi, and recently won Best Street Food UK at the Golden Chopsticks Awards 2023; Yorkshire Burritos, with their roast dinners wrapped in Yorkshire puddings; and Cheeky Burger, a husband-and-wife team serving gourmet burgers, previously awarded Best Burger at the British Street Food Awards.

Additional vendors span a wide culinary spectrum, from Caribbean dishes at Hot Scotch and Thai cuisine at Thai House, to seafood from Molo and lasagne varieties from Mister Lasagna. Sweet options include vegan-friendly crumbles from Crumble Mania and soft serve desserts from Soft Serve Society.

Blake Henderson, Managing Director at Market Place Food Halls, said: “Leicester Square has always been at the heart of London’s excitement and energy, and now we’re bringing food and flavour into the mix too. We’ve brought together the very best food vendors from viral street food sensations to Michelin-trained chefs so everyone can find something that keeps them coming back for more.”

The venue will also host events such as live music, comedy nights, and sports screenings, with bookings for private hire and group gatherings available. The launch represents a significant development in Market Place’s growth, with plans to further expand its community offerings, including a run club in the new year.
