Bread Ahead unveils Wembley Park’s largest gingerbread house – and Santa’s coming to have a look!

Bread Ahead, the artisan bakery and baking school, has unveiled what is believed to be the largest gingerbread house ever seen at its Wembley location. The festive installation is open to the public until Sunday 21st December, and there’s a special event this Saturday from 12 to 4pm, when visitors will be able to meet Father Christmas actually inside it, free of charge.
The gingerbread house, assembled using over 400kg of gingerbread, 500kg of golden syrup, 100kg of icing sugar and around 2,000 sweets, stands at 4 metres tall, 3.5 metres wide and 2.5 metres deep. Saturday’s festivities will see the sugary structure serve as Santa’s grotto, and visitors will also be able to enjoy sweet treats including doughnuts, mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine, while supplies last. While the bakery is known for its workshops and signature doughnuts, this is the first time Bread Ahead Wembley has hosted a “show-stopping” gingerbread house of this scale. They say the creation will “amaze visitors and provide the perfect festive photo opportunity for friends and family”.
The bakery, which operates Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm and Sundays from 9am to 6pm, is encouraging visitors to attend early, as the event is expected to draw significant footfall from both local residents and tourists.
