Dukes London unveils winter whisky tastings and cigar lounge for 2026

Dukes London, the hotel in St James’s, has announced a winter programme of guided whisky tastings and the opening of a new cigar room, The Cigar Merchant. A series of events will take place across January and February, offering guests opportunities to explore a range of rare and distinctive whiskies, as well as a dedicated space for cigar enthusiasts.

The whisky tasting series will be held in the Delany Drawing Room, a space introduced to guests before Christmas. The programme consists of four events, each hosted by a different distillery and focusing on various whisky styles and cask influences. Beginning on Thursday 22nd January, there will be an evening featuring Tomintoul and Glencadam distilleries, presenting attendees with a selection of whiskies matured in American oak and sherry casks, culminating in a tasting of Tomintoul 40 Year Old. The session runs from 6pm to 8.30pm and is priced at £70.

The second event, scheduled the following week on 29th January, will be hosted by The English Distillery, who will explore English single malts, including sherry, rum and oak-led expressions, concluding with a rare single cask dram. The tasting will take place from 6pm to 8pm, with tickets costing £100.

The following Thursday, The Lakes Distillery will present an evening of sherry-led single malts, ranging from signature expressions to limited releases. Brand ambassador Chris Dennis will host from 6pm to 8pm, and tickets are £90.

The final event in the series is scheduled for Thursday 26th February, and will feature The Macallan. Attendees will sample a selection of the distillery’s sherry-led whiskies, including rare and collectible expressions, ending with The Macallan M. This tasting will be held from 6pm to 8pm, with a ticket price of £205.

Alongside the whisky events, Dukes’s new lounge with a curated humidor, The Cigar Merchant (open Tuesday to Saturday from 3pm to 11pm), is described as “a richly textured, leather-lined room designed for quiet conversation and time well spent”.
